Rustic Shade Garden

At the front of the property, colorful impatiens outline the border of this woodland shade garden, adding to the curb appeal.

The best way to garden is to put on a wide brim hat and some old clothes.       Then put a hoe in one hand and a cold drink in the other and tell someone else    where to dig.

When strolling into this garden, you cannot help but be drawn to the whimsical yard art generously sprinkled among the perennial and annual flower beds.  Vertical interest is added by the hanging baskets adding bright color accents to the garden.  Strolling the deck, the garden visitor is entertained by the overflowing containers brimming with colorful flowers and greenery.  The area surrounding the the large outdoor fireplace creats a relaxing retreat for laid-back summer evenings.

Shade gardens provide a welcome relief to the hustle and bustle of the day.  However, finding plants that can survive with marginal sunlight can be a hassle as well.
Impatiens, woodland ferns and hostas are wellknown shade plants.

Another addition to the shade garden are large areas of mulch used decoratively or as paths surrounded by shade loving groundcovers.
